Chena River,Fairbanks Alaska

 Today’s post continues my Alaska theme.  It’s an oil painting of a small clump of pines growing on an island in the Chena River, just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. 

 This painting was done on one of the panels that I make myself in the studio.  It really gives a nice surface to work on.  I tone the panel first with a thinned transparent red oxide paint.  I then start right in on the shadows with the full paint.
