The Pomegranate

Pomegranates are a wonderful fruit.  In addition to being delicious and their status as a nutritional superfood, I think they make a great subject to paint. My attraction stems from all of the wonderful texture that you find on the skin of the fruit and that glorious red color. 

For this daily painting, I worked using artificial, day-light simulating bulbs. My efforts to capture that wonderful texture this time translated to a lot of brush strokes, and a lot of paint.
