Silver Cliff
I tried something a little different with this painting. I started the painting with my pallet knife. I’ve seen other artists do it before, and wanted to give it a try…. It was really fun! The paint takes on a much more sculptural quality as you are working with it. In the end, however, it felt great to get out a couple of brushes, and really move around all that paint. As you can see from the above photo, the paint is a little thicker than normal on this one, due primarily to the pallet knife application.
For those interested in the, ‘where in the world’ aspect of landscape painting, this scene is from Silver Cliff, on Minnesota’s North Shore of Lake Superior.
