Backyard Tree, plein air sketch

The weather was great this morning in St. Paul, so I spent part of this St. Patrick’s day outside painting.  This is a plein air sketch that I did for part of an upcoming painting.  The rest of the project will be posted as it comes together.

Last light

Time for a little vacation from my regular life.  I’m up at Lake Superior, staying at BlueFin Bay in Tofte, MN. This little painting was done in the last few minutes before the daylight was gone for the evening.  I really liked the colors on the clouds.  We had been fighting the clouds all day, …

Sunny Pastures

I’ve painted this field about a dozen times now.  I think this is one of my favorites.  Some days, the paint just feels great coming off of the brush.  This piece was also done on one of my home made or studio made panels.
